On November 11th 2008 the bill «Market Supervision Service and other settings» has been brought up to the Parliament by the Ministry of Development. Τhe Service is granted with hyper-duties which are further analyzed into researches, controls and price-monitoring acts without limitations regarding the secrecy of the data collected. The above acts are related to the production, import, distribution and storage of products, the below-cost sales, the legitimacy of commercial activity and the implementation of market law provisions. The collaboration with other co-competent independent authorities and services (The Price Monitor, Competition Committee etc.) is also provided by the bill. The Service is able to impose penalties to the violators of law, to order the shutting-down of companies, to report the companies to the District Attorney authorities.
