Following the kick off of the “One Stop Shop” on April 4th 2011 for the establishment of partnerships and corporations, “the General Commercial Register” was put into force on the same date. The General Commercial Register will be operating in the local Commercial and Industrial Chambers.

The “General Commercial Register” will not only operate as the “One Stop Shop” for the establishment of partnerships, but it will also operate as the sole registry of all the data that concern the Greek Companies. Thus, over time, it will replace the commercial registers that operate in the District Courts and the Perfectures.

All the companies established from 04.04.2011 and thereafter, shall obtain the General Commercial Register’s registration number and any changes or modifications in relation to such companies will be registered only there.

However, for the companies already established and operated before 04.04.2011 the procedure that was followed in the past shall apply according to the circular K2- 3332/04.04.2011 of the Ministry of Economics, Competitiveness and Marine, while the General Commercial Register will not be competent to receive any documents for registration in relation to such companies.

The transmission of the data of companies already established and operated before 04.04.2011 to the General Commercial Register is expected to be completed in approximately one year, according to the decision K1-802/23.03.2011. However, it is not clear yet, whether the above will automatically obtain the General Commercial Register’s registration number.
