Nicholas Dessypris is a senior lawyer with more than 20 years experience in international transactions. He specializes in corporate, M&A, real estate and construction, banking, equity capital markets, privatisations, competition and media.
In the field of corporate and M&A Nicholas has recently advised bidders on the submission of bids for the acquisition of Wind Hellas (2 transactions), a foreign major player in the energy field in connection with the acquisition of 50% in a Greek major group and the creation of a JV with the latter group, a French company in relation to the creation of a joint venture with a major Greek group in the fields of water and energy, a Greek company, subsidiary of a French group, in relation to the corporate matters of the spin-off of its energy sector and a subsidiary of a US software company in connection with its merger with an affiliate.
In the field of real estate and construction Nicholas has recently advised a JV formed by a French and the Greek retailer on the purchase of a plot in a Greek provincial city and the subsequent construction of a commercial centre, an international JV in connection with the purchase of a portfolio of 17 hotels from a Greek client and several clients in connection with the lease of commercial properties and minor construction projects.
In the field of banking Nicholas has recently advised a major international bank in connection with the financing of the acquisition of a Greek healthcare group by a private equity group, an international client in connection with the refinancing of the purchase of a commercial centre, two major international banks in connection with the financing of a Greek group by means of synthetic equity swaps, as well as a Greek bank in connection with certain regulatory banking issues,
In the field of equity capital markets Nicholas has fairly recently advised on the IPOs of Aegean Airlines and of Eurobank Properties and on their listing on ATHEX and on the IPO of Neurosoft and its listing on AIM Italia.
In the field of privatisations Nicholas has advised on the privatisation of major companies previously owned by the Greek state, including, inter alia, Hellenic Petroleum, Cosmote and Hellenic Duty Free Shops.
Nicholas has also served as executive director in media groups and has advised on corporate, competition and regulatory issues.
Nicholas has been a qualified Greek lawyer since 1988 and has served as a partner in a major Greek law firm and of counsel to a major international law firm having advised numerous Greek and international clients.
