On 10.01.2008, a bill ratifying the strategic partnership agreement signed between the Greek government and Microsoft, was brought before the Greek Parliament. The aforementioned agreement was signed within 2006 by the Minister of Economy and Finance, George Alogoskoufis and the chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates, within the framework of implementation of the Digital Strategy and the closer collaboration between the Greek State and private companies, with respect to Information Technology issues. The agreement pertains to the provision of products and services by Microsoft, in order to fulfil the needs within the public sector, as well as the development of electronic administration services. In addition, it provides for the establishment of a Microsoft Innovation Center in Greece, which shall hold out educational prospects and shall support the academic community and the Greek companies, with aim to the development of competitive technologies.
